Midway Update

I added tomato plants, onions and a blueberry bush yesterday but the back yard is not photo worthy yet.
I've also completed the counter top construction. Now on to finishing it, tile work, electrical outlets, cabinets, and so on.

Home Improvements in Progress

Here are some new home improvement projects I'm working on. Consider these the before pictures.
Here I am adding a new counter top to my kitchen. It will make the space a little smaller put the counter top space is much needed and will help to hide the trash cans and other odds and ends we store here. Also hope to add some more cabinets, a place to store wine bottles, a cookbook shelf and a spice rack.

This is the start of my herb/veggie garden. Basil, mint, bell peppers, jalepeno peppers, thyme, oregano, and arugula. Tomatoes are on their way.

Grill Season

Tis the season for grilling. A few weeks ago I bought a new Weber charcoal grill. So far the most successful product has been homemade pizza (including dough from scratch.)

Vaction....wait another vacation.

Well.. I figured I needed to post something, anything better than announcing the death of a family friend. Where there is yin, there is yang and life must go on.

Here's officially announcing vacation plans for this summer.
May 27-June6 Los Angeles, Chico, and Reno

5 days in LA to visit Jessic and Connie as well as my former roommate Johnnie Hobbs III and Sarah's former roommate Kiki - both trying to be actors. Should be a total blast. Then up to Chico, CA for the holy trinity (wine, beer, cheese) and to visit Sarah's brother Chris and his girlfriend (Emily Brown) and possibly a college friend Erin. Then off to Reno, via Lake Tahoe to ride horses and play the slots with Kyler and Emily (Brown). It will hopefully be an amazing trip filled with family, friends of old, possibly new friends, new sites, and new memories.

June 26-July 4 Sardinia, Italy

That's right. As if we weren't lucky enough going to California. Sarah and I will be going to a little town on the west coast of the island of Sardinia called Alghero for about 9 nights with Mom. It was sort of an impromptu travel decision but now I can hardly wait. The beaches, food, language, landscape, and culture should be a life-altering experience.

Elinor Hermes Swanstrom

A former college/post-college roommate and life-long friend of my mother Elinor Hermes Swanstrom died this morning from a heart-attack in Walnut Creek California at the age of about 66. To the best of my knowledge she leaves behind her husband Jerry, sister Mary, and several nieces and nephews. I have fond memories of spending time with her in Carmel, California where she would let us stay in her cottage, as well as a trip she made to Philadelphia about two years ago where we had dinner at the Caribou Cafe and then took a tour of the Kimmel Center.
Please keep her family in your thoughts.
