Santa Fe in July

It is has been a busy summer. First we ran off to Chicago in June where Connie had to work a Cable Television Conference. It was quick but fun. Then to Santa Fe the third week of July for a wedding for some fellow CSF alums. And this past weekend we where in Las Vegas for Rollercon. (Roller Derby convention) Connie chose not to partake in the actual derby scrimmages this year. We decided to go and just hangout. Those have been our adventures for this summer. I hope to see most of you in STL in October for the marathon. I'm doing a very slow eight miles these days. Gotta keep it up!

Sarah in Africa

If you guys didn't know Sarah is currently climbing Mount Killimanjaro in Tanzania. You can follow her trek on google maps on this site.

Her team is called SAYU - Lemosho 7 day trek 2 people June 26-July3

Front Page of the Food Section

Sorry it's been so long since I've written a new post. As you can all imagine starting a business is incredibly time consuming. However it wasn't even until last week that we really considered this a business. Our article in the Philadelphia Inquirer seems to have allowed us to consider crossing that line from novel idea/hobby into actual legitimacy. The truth is the hardest part is yet to come, but I'm really excited about it.

Hollin Newest grandchild

Ken's oldest kid, Cheyenne, had her 1st baby, Santana Jeremiah Ross, on March 16th. Everybody is doing fine. He was actually born on the same day as his older half brother, Xavier.

Attached are a couple of pictures when we visited with him at when he was 18 days old.

This makes the 7th grandchild.

Finger is healing

Today was the first day I could actually take the band aid off my finger and let it breath during the day. I still can't bend it all the way but it hurts a lot less. Amazing how the body heals yet how fragile we are and how a millimeter of difference in either direction can mean no cut or loosing a finger.

Grandma's 80 birthday Cruise

I thought it would be nice if we could all post our photos here. Mine came out pretty bad, so I was hoping that the rest of you that had some nice ones could post yours. It would be nice to share with everyone and thought this blog might be a good place to do it. Thanks! Beth

Project Temple Begins

Hi all,
Well Rodney and I finally got a chance to record our pre-test numbers. Yeah, they look pretty sad. Well Rodney's are better than mine, but of course men always have it over us women when it comes to brute strength. I do think this will be fun. And hopefully we'll be in shape to do the 1/2 marathon in Anchorage. I'm really hoping it's in the effort that counts, cause don't know I'll ever see the finish line.

Hope all are enjoying the warmer than usual February!

Project Temple

Hey Family,
I am starting a little competition to see who can most improve their bodies over the next 4 months. It is just a fun way with a little monetary incentive to get us off our butts and looking and feeling great. I want all of us to lead long healthy lives so I thought of this idea to get motivated. Please tell your friends, co-workers whomever! The more the merrier! The blog explains all you need to know, anyone can do it. Go to projecttemple.blogspot.com to join and then send me your test info at kowboykjb@gmail.com. I would love it if you all joined and helped support each other on this blog and the Project Temple blog. The more people we get the more fun, and money! If we get enough people we might give half to a worthy cause. Hopefully it will be fun and we can all bitch and moan about our workouts and eating habits. Love you all, go look at the site for me. (I actually created it myself, so you get a better body, I get more computer knowledge, win-win!)

Ouch!

All this time I've been bragging about my kitchen gear and cooking skills.
Well last night I was put in my place.
Although it my sound impressive that I was cutting a chiffonade on some rolled collard greens, I also cut a nice clean slice through my finger. Luckily I live in walking distance to an emergency room and have health insurance. Six stitches and in and out by midnight. Not too bad for a Thursday night.

Best present

Even though I own a ton of food processing equipment now. The dusted gray Kitchen Aid stand mixer that Sarah got me for Christmas was hands down one of the best Christmas gifts ever.
All I've made so far was a pretty lousy loaf of bread and a batch of Pizzelle dough that I never used but you got to start somewhere.

proud owner of monstrous industrial ice cream making equipment

For those of you that have been inquiring about the progress of my ice cream business adventures, I do have a few updates. Though we know we are in a little over our heads we went ahead and purchased two pieces of industrial equipment. A 4 quart Taylor batch freezer will be our ice cream manufacturer and we also got with the deal a blast freezer which hardens ice cream down to 20 degrees below zero. We haven't tried either yet because they were a real trick to transport from Teaneck NJ into my house. We hope to get production up and going by the end of the week.
